How to get to Xeo Quyt forest?

Xeo Quyt forest is located about 30km from the city center of Cao Lanh. To get there, you can travel by road or by waterway. By road from Cao Lanh city, you follow National Highway 30 – until you reach the intersection right at My Long commune People’s Committee, then turn left onto Provincial Road 650 and continue for another 6km to reach Xeo Quyt historical site.

When visiting Xeo Quyt forest during the dry season, you will sneak along winding paths over 1.5km long under the cool shade of the cajeput trees to enter deep inside the base. During the flood season, on a three-leaf boat, the female guerillas wearing ao ba ba, checked scarves, and conical hats will guide tourists through the untouched small creeks to reach the hidden relics in the vast cajeput forest.

When visiting the historical site, tourists have two means of transportation. If you like to wander under the forest canopy, you can walk along the unique path in the historical site, which is about 1.5 km long.

The biodiversity is another interesting feature that attracts tourists to experience. The old melaleuca forests and the floating water hyacinth communities are two types that are hardly found in other areas of the Dong Thap Muoi, except for Tram Chim National Park. Many tall and sturdy melaleuca trees, with a lifespan of over 30 years, stand proudly in the sky, along with a system of climbing vines, creating gigantic cone-shaped structures.

Xeo Quyt currently has 170 plant species (with 158 wild species) and 12 woody plant species, which are not rare but are adapted to waterlogged conditions. The animal system has 200 wild species including 7 frog species, 22 reptile species, 73 fish species, 91 bird species, and 7 mammal species. Particularly, there are 13 rare animal species recorded in the Vietnam Red Book: python molurus, king cobra, box turtle, broad-billed roller, and common otter…
